Round 1 Preview

Another season begins this Saturday with the commencement of the ATCA Two Day competition.

The club will field vastly different teams throughout the grades with a number of player movements during the off season. The creation of a second One Day grade has also drawn significant interest from a number of players and as a result there are opportunities for players to showcase their skills in higher grades.

The A Grade faces Pulteney OS at Goodwood to kick of the season. Captained again by Will Hards the team has two new inclusions with Finn Hulburt and Elliot Hooper making their debuts at Goodwood Oval. The team have high aspirations after being runner up last year to Grange and we hope the boys get off to a winning start against Pulteney OS.

The B Grade as last year’s A.4 #premiers face Fulham in a grand final rematch as both sides were promoted to A.3. Premiership captain Grant Lovering is again at the helm with a significantly youthful team with only 3 members from last season’s premiership team in for Round 1. A good first up test for a youthful B Grade at Collins Reserve. Congratulations to Tim and Marty Kimber and Ben Wray making their B grade debuts.

The C Grade meet Grange’s B in a semi final rematch from last season at Grange #1. Gavin Warnest is Captain again however this week Lloyd Cook will lead the troops from Mid On as Tex will join the ever-growing fatherhood club at Goodwood. We wish him and Terri all the best with the pending arrival. Congratulations to Peter Jolley who will be making his C Grade debut.

The D Grade fortunately avoided regulation despite finishing 9th due the re-expansion of the competition back to twelve teams and retain a spot in C.1. First up the team avoided a water-bag trip to Gawler and fortunately play host to Trinity OS at Cabra East. Scott McGibbon takes over the helm with a vastly different team to previous seasons. Three debutantes with Eli George, Ned Halliday up from the Under 17’s and Harry Laycock. Club also welcomes back Harrison Prestwood to the club after a couple of seasons away. A good first up test against Trinity’s B’s who were Premiers in C.2 last season.

The E Grade once again is led by John Othitis and join the D Grade with a home fixture at Cabra West against Pooraka’s C grade.  New debutantes include Patrick and Andrew Graham, James Morphett and Callum Stuart. Milton Pedler returns to senior cricket and adds his experience to the grade.
