U14 T20 Premiership

Goodwood would like to congratulate the U14 #1 team on defeating Unley on Friday the 2nd of March in their T20 Grand Final. The following is a match report provided by the coach Grant Lovering. Well done boys and good luck in your 2-day Grand Final this Sunday!

The U14s ventured to Kingswood Oval on Friday night for the T20 grand final against Unley. Goodwood batted first and were in trouble early and at the midpoint were 5/39. The boys recomposed themselves well led by some aggressive batting from Clayton Lewis (30 retired) and Khairullah Tayeeb 23* and after a good last few overs by Cain Satanek and Jonah Zinndorf the boys reached 5/115.

Unley were in a strong position at 2/64 after 11 overs. Some great fielding including 2 run outs and a brilliant catch by captain Sash Rajesh helped shift the momentum. Spin bowling was important again with Tom Crettenden and Kobe Lovering both taking a wicket and Oliver Wright had 2/11 off his two. With four overs remaining Unley were 6 down needing 28 to win. Cain Satanek bowled with good pace and direction and took the game away single handedly hitting the stumps twice and taking 3/3 in 8 balls bowling Unley out for 93. It was a great match that could have gone either way. The club and parents are very proud of the lads and how they handled themselves.
