Grounds

Goodwood Cricket Club utilizes Goodwood Oval, regularly voted the number one ground in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association. Our second oval at Lockleys is at a standard that could hold its own amongst any premier grade ground. Cabra College, just a few minutes from our home at Goodwood, boast two newly laid turf squares and is a great place to play side by side with your fellow Goodwood buddies. Goodwood Oval is a fantastic place to watch cricket, with plenty of shady trees, a well-equipped playground for the little spectators and a canteen for refreshments while the game is on

ON FIELD

Goodwood Cricket Club have been consistently a strong contender in the A1 Premier Grade competition. We provide a pathway for cricketers young and old to play at a very high level and improve their skills in a very competitive and challenging competition.

Womens cricket is a growing part of our club, with a development squad in 2016/17 looking to be formulated in a team in the 2017/18 season.

Goodwood Cricket Club also provide opportunities for more social cricketers with grades both in the two day and one day cricket format, our oldest playing member currently in their 70’s. We currently field five two day and two one day teams making us the largest cricket club in the ATCA association.

COACHING

Goodwood Cricket Club boasts and envious coaching structure, overseen by an active management committee. Former Redbacks coach Greg Quinn runs the fielding and conditioning training whilst ATCA legend John Rankin focusses on player development and preparation. Many senior members and players help with technical batting and bowling training, there is always someone there to give you a technical hand.

JUNIORS

We accept all kids from 8 years that can competently bowl 22 yards. Our junior programme is overseen by head coach Lee Smallacombe his direction as well as help by members of the club and parents is the envy of the association.

We field 11 teams in under10, 12, 14,15 and 17 in the ATCA competition, games are played on Sundays and are all played on turf. All grades train Friday evenings at Goodwood Oval, when the ground and practice facilities are filled with kids enjoying the game, learning the skills, whilst parents can relax with friends and enjoy a drink and something to eat.

SOCIAL

Goodwood Cricket Club is an active social club. As demographics have changed over the past generations we have catered to the changing face of community sport. Whilst Tuesday and Thursday nights primarily remain the domain of players sharing old cricket stories and beers at the bar, the weekends are filled with a family friendly atmosphere and wives and partners are active and enjoying the atmosphere while young children play on the playground. Wives and partners regularly hold ladies’ days during Saturday afternoons and enjoy each other’s company.

Friday and Sunday evenings are devoted to junior cricket as parents can relax and meet new friends whilst the boys and girls play games on the field or after the game play socially together on the wonderful Goodwood Oval.
