Junior Cricket

Goodwood Cricket Club has an extensive junior program catering for Under 10s up to Under 17s and girls from U12s to U16s

In the 2023/2024 season, Goodwood Cricket Club (GCC) will field junior boys’ teams (who compete in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association) and junior girls’ teams (who compete in the Strikers Girls Cricket League). Age groups offered are U10s, U12s, U14s, U15s and U17s for boys, and U12s, U15’s and U18s for girls.  Where possible we welcome all players, improving their playing skills, social skills and having some cricket fun!

GCC also currently fields eight senior teams to make it the largest club in the state and the only club in the area where players of all abilities can play cricket continuously from 7 years old (currently our youngest playing member) to 65 years old (currently our oldest active playing member). We field teams from A1 Premier, the highest level of community cricket right down to more social Limited Over sides. Goodwood also offers the Woolworths Cricket Blast program on Friday nights in Term 4. Goodwood is a successful club with regular premiership sides and is competitive right throughout the grades.

Goodwood Cricket club is a community cricket club playing on turf wickets with a home base at Goodwood Oval, which is frequently rated as the number one cricket ground in our association. Being community minded we provide opportunities for cricketers of all ages and abilities. We pride ourselves on the family nature of our junior cricket club and encourage active involvement of families in their child’s cricket experience; it has to be fun for mum and dad too!

Our juniors are the future of our club and we encourage all of our players to go on to play senior cricket at the club, or onto district affiliated clubs with the hope that one day players may return to Goodwood to continue their cricketing journey. Our aim is to ensure all junior cricketers see Goodwood as “their” cricket club.

Our junior cricket program is overseen by coach coordinators for each age group and each team has a match day coach. As per Association rules, each team require a Match Day coach and Team Manager – these are volunteer positions and are parents of the playing group.

Girls junior training is held at the Goodwood Oval cricket nets on Wednesday evening and boys junior training are held on Friday evenings.  Friday evenings the new clubrooms are open with meals, drinks and a BBQ always running for parents to socialise and relax while their children are enjoying training. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in assisting in training or assist with BBQ and canteen duties. The surrounds of Goodwood Oval make a great place to relax and unwind after a hard week.

Goodwood Cricket Club has online registration which an email prompt will be sent out in early August each year. Existing players and their siblings are given priority and prospective new members should register their details with the junior co coordinator BEFORE registrations. The junior co coordinator can be contacted via a link on this page.

At the Goodwood Cricket Club we pride ourselves on playing for the club and ensuring our junior players develop a passion, respect and love for the game and a sense of team first spirit
