About the Teams

Under 10’s

This age group is played in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association (ATCA) on Sunday mornings. Age qualification for the 10’s is on the 01st September, for example to qualify for the u/10’s, a child must not have turned 10 years old on the 01st September for that season. This age group is seen as an entry to club cricket and a more structure environment.

Playing times are Sunday mornings, 9am to 11.30am with home games played at Goodwood Oval on “flix artificial pitches”. Trainings are held at Goodwood Oval on Friday evenings from 4pm until to 5.15pm. Boys and girls are welcome to be involved from any age 7 years and up. Under 10’s play a modified rule version of the game  with pads and hard balls. It is participation based where each player gets and even opportunity no matter of development.

It is encouraged that children first hone their skills at school and kanga cricket under modified rules until a time when they are capable to bowl a full length wicket and are seeking the next challenge of playing a more structured game.

Under 15’s

These age groups are played in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association (ATCA) on Sunday afternoons. Playing times are 1pm to 5.30pm with home games at Goodwood Oval and Cabra College. (U/17’s have priority to Goodwood Oval). All games are played on turf pitches. All junior training is held at Goodwood Oval Cricket Nets on Friday evenings from 6pm.Many of our juniors are dual registered and play both district cricket and cricket for Goodwood. The club actively encourages this with the hope that we may assist in the development of the next Travis Head, or, if not, your child sees Goodwood Cricket Club their long-term home for quality turf cricket in the area.

Age qualification for the 15’s is on the 01st May, for example to qualify for u/15’s, a child must not have turned 15 on the 01st July of that year. No over age permits will be granted by the ATCA. The season compromises of a mixture of 2-day and one day matches and follow the normal rules of cricket.

Unders 15’s have two divisions and players will be selected on skill level with friendship groups in mind. Approved match balls are a 156 gram 2 piece. Premiership points are awarded, and finals and premierships are contested for. These age groups are playing in preparation for senior cricket so the matches follow the traditional rules of cricket as we move away from participation based play. Coaches are instructed where possible to give all players an opportunity, but it will not necessarily be of an even nature. If available, players from these age groups at times assist the club and ‘fill in’ on a Saturday in the senior competition.
